Complete our fully-funded (DfE) Teaching Advanced Mathematics course and your school will receive* £1,200
We are offering the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Advanced Mathematics (TAM), a fully-funded Masters accredited professional development course for teachers of A-level Mathematics. This course is fully funded by the Department of Education (DfE) and run in partnership with the charity Mathematics in Education and Industry (MEI).
Who is this course for?
This course is targeted at teachers of A-level Mathematics/other Level 3 Mathematics courses in state maintained schools, who will have the opportunity to develop subject knowledge and pedagogy in light of current research. If you are a current Warwick Maths PGCE trainee, you can take this course provided you have an agreement from your school that you will be teaching a minimum of 1 hour per week, A level, for the entire year.

The course is held on eight course days spread over 12 months. All course days will take place from 10.00 am – 6.00 pm and are as follows:

The course includes two modules:
Module 1 - Advanced Level Mathematics Pedagogy
This module will lead to successful completion of the MEI portfolio and comprises two essays due in January 2018 and April 2018.
Module 2 - Advanced Level Classroom Based Enquiry
Participants will research an aspect of teaching and learning advanced level mathematics in this module that comprises one essay due in August 2018.
The course days will take place at CPE at the University of Warwick Campus. Full location and transport details can be found here.
Applicants must have graduated from a UK Higher Educational Institute or equivalent. In addition, they must have current or recent relevant practice experience and/or be in a relevant role. Applicants must have the opportunity to teach A-Level Mathematics to complete the TAM course.
There is an initial upfront payment of £600 from the school or college to demonstrate commitment to attendance and teaching costs. However, the school or college will receive £1,200* (funded by the DfE) if their participant attends (£900) the course days and completes the Masters assignment (£300).
