Dr Dania Thomas is a CSGR Visiting Fellow based at Keele University. She specialises in the English common law of contract and contemporary politics of identity. She is especially interested in exploring private law doctrine through the prism of identity politics to reveal the dynamics of legitimate exploitation. Her case studies include the Banaban encounter with colonial phosphate mining interests in the Western Pacific at the turn of the last century and the Argentine debt crisis of 2001 as an aspect of contemporary market capitalism. Dania is also interested in the notion of the corporate person and its regulation in modern theories of the company.

Dania teaches tort in the School of Law and Business law in the School of Economic and Management studies, both at undergraduate levels. She has taught Contract law, Torts and Business law in the School of Law, University of Manchester for three years before joining Keele.

Dania would be happy to supervise research in contract law, the politics of recognition, explorations into the notion of legal personality and sovereign debt crises from a law and economics perspective.

While at CSGR Dania is working on a project with Professor Marcus Miller that will involve the coordination of the CSGR/WEF 2007 Summer Research Workshop and Conference.
