Warwick UniversityFaculty of Social Sciences

Departments of the Faculty of Social Sciences

The Faculty consists of twelve independent academic units

All the 'departments' and 'schools' engage in research and teaching but so also do the Centre for Applied Linguistics and Warwick Institute of Education. Teaching related to the Centre for Applied Linguistics and the School of Health and Social Sudies is largely at post-graduate level. Three of the academic units are autonomous research centres, which also take doctoral students (CEI, CEDAR and IER).

Two University-wide bodies have special significance for the Faculty:

Centre for Lifelong Learning (which is represented on the Board of the Faculty of Social Studies)

Institute of Advanced Study

In addition to the three autonomous research centres, the University has established a number of research centres or institutes which are based within departments, though many involve the active membership of colleagues in other parts of the Faculty.

Currently there are 25 departmental research centres
