Created in 1965, the same year as The University of Warwick itself, the Department of Economics has become widely regarded as one of the top economics departments in the UK and Europe.
In less than 50 years since its founding, the department has rocketed to the forefront of both economic research and education in the UK and beyond.
The research of the department is continuing to yield new and cutting-edge insights to enhance growth, opportunity and well-being worldwide, whilst our innovative curriculum across both our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes provides an outstanding training in economics which is both intellectual and professional.
Economics is the issue of our times. This context underscores the importance of our mission: to conduct research that improves economic well-being, and to educate the next generation of leaders of business, government, and academic inquiry.
- The Department has an academic staff of 70, including 25 professors.
- It has approximately 1200 undergraduate students and 330 postgraduate students.
- Some 50% of students attending are from the UK or the European Union and 50% from overseas, making us an internationally diverse department which is reflected throughout our work.
