David Miles, one of the nine members of the Bank of England’s interest rate-setting Monetary Policy Committee, will be speaking at the University of Warwick Department of Economics in February as part of its Distinguished Visitor Lecture Series.

His lecture, “What can monetary policy do?”, is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 19 February in Room M1 of the Radcliffe Teaching Centre. The hour-long lecture will be followed by a drinks reception, providing an opportunity for informal conversation with the speaker. All are welcome to attend.

David Miles joined the Monetary Policy Committee in June 2009, and last year he was re-appointed for a term that extends until May 2015. Miles is a visiting professor at Imperial College London, where he formerly was a professor of financial economics and head of the Finance Department. He was Chief UK Economist at Morgan Stanley from October 2004 to May 2009. His economics work has focused on the interaction between financial markets and the wider economy.
