Dr Dennis Novy named as panel member for 'Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership' event

An academic from the Warwick Department of Economics has been invited to participate in an event at the Royal Society of Medicine in London this evening.

Dr Dennis Novy, an Associate Professor of Economics, will be giving a presentation and be one of four panellists discussing the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and its implications on health and the NHS.

Dr Novy’s research interests are in International Trade and International Economics, and worked as the Specialist Adviser to the House of Lords for the TTIP, for which he was recognised earlier this year by being named a winner of the University of Warwick’s Research Impact and Public Engagement Awards.

TTIP is a major free trade agreement currently being negotiated between the European Union and the United States with a likely impact on human and environmental health in Britain. The scope of the negotiations is extremely broad; and covers issues such as environmental, food and occupational safety; public procurement policy; and the application of commercial law to public services such as the NHS.
