Research Methods Module - Term 2

Aims

This is a core module which aims to equip the students with the necessary skills required for research. The module is therefore organised in terms of various workshops and lectures as detailed below. All students are required to attend these workshops. There will be some flexibility in that the workshops will be organised around alternative sessions (details below).

Contents

Introduction to the leading software applied in Economics such as STATA, MATLAB and Latex. The applications will cover dataset managment, standard econometrics (linear regression model and more complicated settings), matrix manipulation, simulations and basic optimization.

Organisation

The class will meet every Wednesday at 5 pm. The format will be an open-ended lecture cum question and answer session.
