With Brexit likely to become a reality, domestic economic policy becomes more crucial than ever before. The government's green paper is one building block of the approach to support business. Within this strategy, regional policy will become increasingly important - the UK has the largest regional imbalances of any European country and needs to address those. The "Midlands Engine" is supposed to follow the "Northern Powerhouse" as a flagship region.

This event addressed both of these important issues asking:
"Industrial Strategy: Fuel for the Midlands Engine?"

Organised by the Centre for Competitive Advantage in Global Economy, in conjunction with Warwick Manufacturing Group, this event will bring together academic researchers, industrial and city government experts from across Midlands and beyond, to encourage discussion on future industrial strategy for the Midlands and foster opportunities for further collaboration. The event featured 4 interventions from distinguished speakers and was followed by an evening reception.
