Professor Francesco Squintani
Brief Bio:
I was born in Cremona, Italy, in April 1971, where I lived until starting college in Milan, at Bocconi University in September 1990. I graduated in Economics and Statistics (DES), with honors in July 1995, under the supervision of Sandro Brusco. In August 1995, I started a PhD in Economics at Northwestern University, in Evanston, IL. I defended my thesis in June 2000, with main advisers Eddie Dekel and Juuso Valimaki. In June 2000, I started my position as Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester, NY, Department of Economics. This position was renewed in June 2003. In September 2003, I have been tenured with a Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) in Economics at the University College, London, Department of Economics. In September 2007, I have been inducted to a Professorship at the University of Essex, Department of Economics. I got married to Leila Simona Talani in January 2008, and in April 2008, our son Gabriel was born. In May 2011, I have been inducted to a Professorship at the University of Warwick, Department of Economics.
My main research interests are in economic theory and political economy, specifically: formal models of elections, communication games, dynamic games with asymmetric information, bounded rationality and behavioral economics, formal models of international relations, and contract theory. My main publications are on the American Economic Review, the American Political Science Review, the Review of Economic Studies, the Journal of Economic Theory, Games and Economic Behavior, and Advances in Theoretical Economics. I have presented my research in Economic Theory or Political Economy research seminars in all the top 20 world Universities. I have held short visiting positions at Yale University, University of California at Los Angeles, European University Institute, University of Rochester, University College London, EIEF - Bank of Italy, Princeton University and London School of Economics.
