This project was to produce a resource guide to provide a critique of the official sources which can inform local migration estimates, supplemented by a review of other possible sources from public, voluntary and private sectors. It aims to give local service providers guidance as to how they can combine various sources to produce estimates of local populations, and specifi cally the international migrant component within that population. Sources which might give early warnings of changing trends in migrant flows or the extent of population churn were also identified.
