Measuring the economic impact of the further education sector

This project, led by Cambridge Econometrics (CE) in collaboration with the IER, developed a tool to measure the economic impact of the further education sector. The study included a detailed review of the literature, focusing on the impact of qualifications on wages, employment and productivity, which was undertaken by IER. A review of the available data was carried out by CE and IER, and a report was produced setting out a synthesis of the empirical evidence on the link between qualifications and pay. This resulted in the development of a national level model, structured in considerable detail, to allow assumptions to be varied across a wide range of categories
