Advanced study
The Institute also has an advanced study programme which includes
- a PhD in Employment Research (see also the University's post-graduate research
pages for information on higher degrees) - an Early Stage Researcher Programme, for research students or post docs from other institutions;
- a fellowship programme for visiting academics, officials and other professionals;
Funding for Post-doctoral Fellowships is also available from other funding bodies, such as the European Commission (EC), British Academy and the ESRC.
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK provides funds for UK organisations to host visits to the UK from professionals from the developing Commonwealth under their Professional Fellowships Scheme. Organisations in all sectors are eligible to apply for Commonwealth Professional Fellowships, which provide an opportunity for the exchange of knowledge, skills and good practice between the host organisation and between one and six Fellows and to develop existing links and partnerships. Applications are invited for applications for Round 2 of the Professional Fellowships Scheme (http://cscuk.dfid.gov.uk/apply/professional-fellowships/). The closing date for applications is 11 May 2012 for Fellowships to start between 10 September 2012 and 28 February 2013.
Candidates interested in applying for any post-doctoral fellowship funding opportunities should contact Professor Robert Lindley.
ESRC Doctoral Training Centre
In recognition of the strength of its research and postgraduate training in a range of social sciences, the University of Warwick has been awarded a Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) by the Economic and Social Research Council.
A total of 27 doctoral studentships have been made available from October 2011 across a range of disciplinary and inter-disciplinary training pathways and departments, further details of which are available from the Graduate School. IER invites applications from qualified candidates for a studentship in the pathway New Technology, Innovation and Skills, although candidates should note that a studentship for this pathway will not be available every year. Candidates interested in this area should check the ESRC Studentship page on the Graduate School website to find out if funding is available.
