Interested in Applying?

If you would like an indication of whether we would welcome an application in your particular area of research, you should send your CV (indicating your research training and/or experience), transcripts and an outline Research Proposal using the IER Guidelines for the preparation of a PhD Research Proposal to ierphd at warwick dot ac dot uk, mentioning any potential IER supervisors that you have identified. The proposal should be sufficiently developed to indicate your knowledge of the topic and your specific area of interest. If your proposal does not follow the guidelines, you may be asked to revise. Your submitted proposal will be reviewed by those involved in doctoral supervision at IER. Please note that this can take 8 weeks. It is usual in IER for doctoral students to have two supervisors. Where potential supervisors are identified you will be invited to an interview, first with potential supervisors and then with the Director of Graduate Studies.
 
If we are able to identify a potential supervisor within the IER for your proposed research topic we will then ask you to submit a formal application via the University’s online application form. Please make sure that you read the guidance and checklist before submitting your form.

Please note that we can only make offers to candidates for the PhD programme who have made a formal application, with relevant supporting documentation.

APPLICATION DEADLINES FOR ENTRY OCTOBER 2024

Please note that in some instances you need to have applied and/or received an offer from the university before you can apply for a scholarships. It can take several weeks for your application to be processed as detailed in the university application guidance. IER must receive pre-application materials by 01 May 2024 to be considered for admission to the October 2024 term.

To be confirmed by 31 July 2024 for overseas students who will need to apply for a Student visa to allow time for processing the visa application
