Professor Bhambra works on issues of citizenship and belonging in the context of Britain’s imperial past. She argues that the British Empire is the appropriate context for understanding current debates around race and class and how they intersected with the vote to leave the EU.

Renske Doorenspleet

Dr Doorenspleet works on democracy, democratisation and comparative politics. She is studying how the Brexit referendum has challenged perspectives on the meaning of democracy.

Leslie Francis

Professor Francis studies attitudes of young people towards immigration and the extent to which such attitudes may have affected voting in the referendum.

Katharina Lefringhausen

Dr Lefringhausen analyses host country nationals' integration with other cultural groups. Her work challenges claims of many anti-migration parties in Europe that the existence of and exposure to different cultures eradicates national cultures.

Dr Mckenna is interested in the attitudes of young people towards immigration and the extent to which such attitudes may have affected voting in the referendum.
