ESRC Impact Acceleration Account

The IAA supports a comprehensive portfolio of activities and resources across the social sciences community to maximise the potential for impact from social science research.

Our focus is on the conversion of established research into impact through support for new engagement activities.

The award is worth £760,000 in total, and runs from 1st July 2014 - 31st March 2018.

Application deadlines are listed below. We aim to notify applicants of the outcome within 10 working days of the meeting at which it was considered.

We also accept applications of up to £3,000 for the 'rapid-response' mode of funding at any time and these applications are considered outside of the meeting schedule.

What type of activities does the IAA support?

The IAA supports a comprehensive portfolio of activities and resources for Social Scientists at Warwick, which maximise the potential for impact from social science research.

Special calls for proposals

The IAA is currently promoting the following special funding calls:

  • Cross-faculty Impact Networks - 2-3 awards of up to £8000 to build impact networks on research themes significant to current social science debate.
  • Impact Apprenticeships: Funding is available for departments to support a PhD student or post-doctoral researcher to work on a Social Sciences impact project for up to 1 month. Apprentices will benefit from training and mentoring to develop their impact knowledge and skills.

Grant holders end of project report

At the end of their project, Grant holders are requested to submit a brief summary of their expenditure and fill in a short end of project report.
