Julia Kerr Prize for Human Rights and the Law
This prize has been generously founded in the memory of Julia Kerr a graduate of the Law School in 1975.
Each academic year, a prize of £500 will be awarded to the student who has, in the previous 12 months, best demonstrated the use of skills and knowledge gained at Warwick Law School to make an important contribution to human rights in the community (local, national, or international) as a participant in activities arranged through the Law School.
Criteria for the AwardAll applications must satisfy the following:
· A completed application form and Written Report (contents of which are set out below) must be delivered to the Law School by 11 November of the prize year · Those activities to which the application relates must have been carried out in the 12 month period ending 19 November of the prize year · The applicant must be registered as a student with the University of Warwick at the time of the application
The Written Report must:
· Include a detailed description of the applicant’s activities and identify how these demonstrate a contribution to human rights in the community · Include a statement reflecting upon the value of the applicant’s activities to the relevant community and the development of the applicant’s own understanding of human rights · Be no longer than 2000 words · Annex any supporting evidence (such as references, or output from the applicant’s relevant human rights work in the community) where available and personal commitment and dedication to practical human rights works should be highlighted in the application.
