Centre hosts "Equality and human rights legislation and challenges to welfare benefit sanctions" round table
The Centre will be hosting a round table event on the topic of challenging welfare benefit sanctions. Attending will be equality and human rights lawyers and welfare rights, anti-poverty and equality organisations nationwide.
3 main questions will be focussed upon in the meeting:
i. Human Rights and equality impact monitoring of benefit sanctions
ii. Using the Public Sector Equality Duty in action short of litigation
iii. Challenging sanctions using Equality or Human Rights legislation in court.
The Centre plans to write a report from the round-table to summarise the key themes that arise.
