Event: Seven Jewish Children (play) and discussion

Event: Seven Jewish Children (play) and discussion

Warwick University Drama Society

Thurs 4th Feb 7,30 room H0.51 and Sun 7th room H0.52

"Seven Jewish Children is a short exploration of the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict, beginning during the Holocaust and culminating in the 2009 conflict in Gaza. The play is designed to facilitate a further discussion about the Arab-Israeli conflict and so it is important to note that the play is not attempting to articulate an objective or thorough history of the conflict, but to raise awareness and debate about the issue itself. We are attempting to also highlight the power and influence of the media in conflict. The Guardian's Michael Billington called it a ' heartfelt lamentation', while the Times found it ' straitjacketed political orthodoxy'. For Howard Jacobson, it is ' wantonly inflammatory'. Judge for yourself."

On the Thursday performance, the piece will be followed by a discussion/Q&A with representatives from the Jewish-Israeli society and the Friends of Palestine society on the Thursday performance. The discussion will be chaired by Alice Panepinto (Centre for Human Rights in Practice, Warwick Law School).
