Reforming Global Economic Governance: Do Lawyers Have a Role?

Professor Daniel Bradlow
SARCHI Professor of International Development Law and African Economic Relations, Centre for Human Rights, Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria

In this keynote speech to launch the GLOBE Centre, Professor Bradlow will seek to address three key issues:

1) To give a general overview of the current institutional arrangements for global governance, using some current issues in global economic governance to explain how the arrangements work.

2) Explain what the problems with the current arrangements are and the sorts of reforms that are required to correct them.

3) Describe the role lawyers play in the current global governance arrangements and the role that they can play in reforming global governance.

Professor Bradlow was formerly Head of the International Economic Relations and Policy Department at the South African Reserve Bank and Professor of Law at the American University Washington College of Law, Washington DC. He has published extensively on issues relating to international financial law and regulation, international economic law and global governance and law and international development.

The event will be followed by a drinks reception and you can register via the Event Registration page.
