Aims

1. Provide a focal point for (inter)national collaborative interdisciplinary and comparative studies in democratisation, based at the University of Warwick 2. Initiate, conduct, and coordinate research into the political, economic, historical, social and legal dimensions of democratisation, leading to publications in international journals 3. Disseminate information about democratisation through a seminar programme, by organising research conferences, workshops, meetings and occasional public lectures and through contacts with the media 4. Bring together experts on democracy and democratisation from Warwick's Department of Politics and International Studies, and attract eminent public figures and scholars as visiting and associate fellows of CSD 5. Develop and participate in the teaching and research programme of the Department of Politics and International Studies 6. Spread excellent research about democratisation through publications and such vehicles as the international refereed Thomson Reuter SSCI-listed journal, Democratization, and Two Book Series, published by Manchester University Press and Routledge 7. Promote a better understanding of democratisation by working within an extensive international network of other Centres focusing on democratisation |
