Shirin M Rai published an article - Political Performance: A Framework for Analysing Democratic Politics - that develops a framework to examine the co-constitutive nature of performance and politics and to suggest that such a framework is critical to promoting an interdisciplinary approach to understanding our complex political world. She also published an article on the aesthetics of politics - Political Aesthetics of the Nation - examining the murals, portraits and statues in the Indian parliament -

Shirin M Rai and Janelle Reinelt edited The Grammar of Politics and Performance (2015), Routledge, Intervention Series, which builds on the work of GCRP and Theatre Studies and develops an interdisciplinary approach to the study of politics and political institutions.
