10th National Postgraduate Analytic Philosophy Conference

    30th June-2nd July 2006

The inaugural NPAPC was held in 1997, at Sheffield University. The conference aims to provide a relaxed forum for the presentation and discussion of postgraduate work in the analytic tradition; to foster academic and personal contacts between students at different establishments; and to provide a good time for everyone attending.

This year, the conference took place at the University of Warwick. The keynote address 'Empirical Realism and Perceptual Experience' was presented by Professor Bill Brewer . The conference was a mixture of parallel sessions and plenary sessions in a lively and friendly setting. Each of the 90 minute sessions included comments presented by a respondent, as well as time for discussion of the paper presented by those attending the session.

The organisers were elated at the number and quality of submissions to NPAPC 2006. Although only a small number of papers could be accepted, the organisers wish to thank all those who submitted work. The winner of the best submitted paper this year was Ian Phillips (All Souls, Oxford), whose paper 'Context and Perceptual Content’ impressed reviewers with both its philosophical integrity and its location at the heart of contemporary philosophical issues. Thank you to Borders Coventry Arena Park for their generous sponsorship of Ian's prize.
