Graduate Study
Postgraduate Research
You can get an MA or PhD through the 1+3 Doctoral Programme in the Philosophy of Mind (this link takes you to the Philosophy web site). We very much welcome interest from doctoral students interested in pursuing their PhD work within the framework of the project, as well as interest from people on post-doctoral fellowships.
Research Seminars
The center runs two weekly seminars for graduates:
- The Consciousness and Self-Consciousness Research Seminar devoted to in-depth group studies of topics (recent topics include joint action, Donald Davidson's philosophy of language, the senses, and self-awareness
- A Work in Progress Seminar where staff and research students present their work.
Graduates also attend seminars and workshops organised by the AHRC Project on Causal Understanding.
MindGrad Conference
Research students in the Center for Consciousness and Self-Consciousness organize MindGrad, a graduate conference on philosophy of mind, language and metaphysics. Faculty from the Center review papers and give replies, sessions allow for plenty of discussion and we invite stunningly good keynote speakers (including Tim Crane, Alva Noë, David Smith, Christopher Peacocke, Richard Moran, Paul Boghossian, Mike Martin, Tim Bayne, Helen Steward, Quassim Cassam and Michael Bratman).
Information about the current and previous years’ conferences can be found here:
