Philosophy Options for Students from Other Departments
Honours-level
All honours-level Philosophy modules [list] are normally available to outside students.
If you are interested in taking one of these modules, you must have the approval of the individual module tutor before you can register.

First-year
Students from other departments looking for a 30 CATS first-year Philosophy option can either take one of the following whole-year modules
- Introduction to Ancient Philosophy (30 CATS)
- Ideas of Freedom (30 CATS)
- Introduction to Philosophy (30 CATS)
or they can combine an autumn term, spring term and summer term module from the following list of part-year modules to make 30 CATS:

Each of the above part-year modules is also available individually, except for Meaning and Communication, which presupposes Starting Logic.
First-year mathematics students
Those who take Issues in Philosophy (12 CATS) + Starting Logic (12 CATS) + Elements of Scientific Method (6 CATS) as options qualify for a transfer to the degree course Mathematics and Philosophy after their first year.
