MA in Applied Social Research with Specialisms

INTRODUCTION
The MA in Applied Social Research gives a thorough research training to students wishing to undertake applied social research. There are three specialisms with subject specific content in one of the following;
Social Work
Health Studies or
Islam in Contemporary Societies
ABOUT THE COURSE
The research training is in both quantitative and qualitative methods with particular regard being given to complex issues of access, confidentiality, user involvement, and knowledge transfer. Students will acquire both practical research skills and a theoretical understanding of research methodologies and methods.
The subject specific courses either focus on social work through MA level courses on Organisational Policies and Legal Frameworks and Diversity in Society or on Health Studies with courses on Global Health & Human Rights and Health Policy & Social Determinants of Health or Islam in Contemporary Societies with courses on issues of Islam, Introduction to Islamic Law, International Relations in the Middle East.

Entry Requirements?
Usually a first degree 2:1 or above or 2:2 and work experience.
Who Should Study For The Masters In Research?
These MA courses are ideal for people wishing to become social researchers working within social policy, or the fields of social work, health and Muslims in contemporary society. They also provide the requisite grounding in terms of research training for those students who wish to continue to study for a PhD.
