Profile
Mishal Niaz is a doctoral student in Women's and Gender Studies at the Department of Sociology, University of Warwick. Her work focuses on conceptualisation and measurement of 'women's empowerment' in policy discourse in the Global South, particularly Pakistan. Her research focuses on reconciling feminist critiques aimed at the concept of women's empowerment and practical policy making of women’s empowerment in the context of Pakistan. Mishal attempts to achieve this by empirically testing whether there is a relationship between women’s empowerment and welfare outcomes in Pakistan.
Previously, Mishal received a bachelor's degree in Economics and a master's degree in Development Studies.
