Meet Our Students
|
Our undergraduates come from a wide range of backgrounds which makes for an interesting and diverse community in which to study. Here's what some of our current students have to say... I was attracted to Sociology at Warwick because of the obvious community spirit within the department. Everyone seemed enthusiastic about what they were studying. Now I’ve been here 3 years and become one of these enthusiastic people. I’ve developed fantastic relations with my fellow course mates - and over the last 3 years we have shared the experience of being undergraduates together. In this time I’ve developed my own interests in Sociology. 3rd Year Finalist. ****** On the first day of the first term, having been so excited it was quite a shock to find myself crying my eyes out when my parents decided to leave. However, by the end of the first week all fears and homesickness had dissipated. I found the people friendly and the tutors and lecturers supportive and interesting. The campus offered, and still offers me, everything I need both academically (with the extensive library, the computer labs and the 24 hour learning grid) and socially in terms of the numerous societies, sports and nights out. Warwick University has provided a solid degree education as well as a busy social life. In contrast to my first day, I now feel that Warwick is my home! Naomi Mouland, 20, 1st Year Undergraduate. ****** Why did I choose to study at Warwick? I chose to study at Warwick as I immediately felt at home in the friendly and sociable atmosphere we have here. The department is very approachable, helpful and friendly. I always feel I can talk to my seminar tutors and my personal tutor if I have an issue. The range of clubs and societies here is huge with a society to suit your tastes! I was really nervous on moving in day as I was a bit older than other students after taking a gap year. Even though there are two years between myself and my friends the age gap really doesn’t matter at the University. Warwick really is a sociable university with nights in the union to satisfy all tastes and that enable you to enjoy the best time of your lives! Honestly! Jenni Edmunds, 20, 1st Year Sociology. ****** Why did I choose Warwick? I am Laura Home, a first year student currently studying a combined degree in History and Sociology here at the University of Warwick. I have found the transition from school to University a really big jump. It has taken me a while to get used to a new way of learning. However, Warwick offers a very supportive and friendly environment. I fell in love with Warwick when I came to an Open Day. The course is great, with a wide range of module options which are academically challenging and very interesting. The campus has so many facilities with beautiful, peaceful green surroundings. You can walk to the gym, students union, bars, cinema, lectures, library and shops all within a few minutes so everything is really convenient. The halls of residence are really nice and great fun. You have the opportunity to mix with a wide range of people from many different backgrounds and cultures. Warwick campus is its own little community; there is a lively, vibrant, friendly atmosphere. The course here is great and if you are looking for a lively campus University then Warwick is fantastic. The decision I have made was to come to Warwick. I am having the time of my life and already have many wonderful memories which I will treasure forever. Laura Home ****** When I first came to Warwick I was very unsure about my choice. Since being here I have found the course very engaging and met so many new and interesting people. I am in my first year doing an undergraduate degree in Sociology, which I hope will lead to a career in journalism. The wide range of societies in Warwick has really enhanced my experience here and I would suggest that people get involved in them. The course has a wide range of options and allows you to study things that really interest you. Richard Ash, 19, Sociology Student. ******* Warwick University is a bubble that is friendly, safe and comfortable! It is a strong community which adds to the enjoyable experience. In Sociology there is lots of choice in modules and you can specialise in any area you want or go for a diverse of courses. The jump from A-levels to University is daunting, but there is all the help you need at Warwick. The department is excellent, personal tutors and peers are amazing. Louisa Wong, 19, Sociology Student.
