Department of Sociology

Sociology

Undergraduate Modules

As a large department, there are a considerable number of modules available to undergraduate students. To provide some idea of the scope of individual sociology modules provided at honours level, the range includes a concern with health, food, education, youth, ‘race’ and ethnicity, and gender, through social theory, qualitative and quantitative methodology, and through to colonialisms, developing societies, sexualities, comparative welfare states and sex and power. In addition to the formal specialisms in social policy, gender, cultural studies and research methods, students may select their module around the areas of social theory or health. Please note that whilst the department endeavours to cover all topics every year sometimes this is not always possible as a result of staff research leave.

Please click on each year of study for more information on the modules available for Academic Year 2011/12.
