Getting started in Windows 7

This page is intended for WBS Staff and PhD researchers and aims to help you get started in Windows 7 when moving from XP. The information is available as a video (below) or a downloadable PDF (PDF Document).

If you find a WBS computer that is still running Windows XP you can upgrade this yourself using these instructions (PDF Document). This process takes a number of hours (more for users outside of the Scarman Road building due to limitations in the University of Warwick network). Our recommendation is that you start this process as you leave the office in the evening so that your computer will be ready when you return in the morning. For machines outside of the Scarman Road building this process should be started and left to run for the weekend.

Your work is safe during this process as it is backed up and then verified before any change is made to your computer.
