Chief Superintendent Mark Robinson, Lead for Public Confidence WMP, spoke about the policy context for Public Confidence. Superintendent Mark Cooper WMP introduced confidence in terms of the impact on the front line, as well as providing an historical overview of the importance of public confidence throughout the history of British policing. Superintendent Bas Javid critically reviewed the methodology used by WMP to date to study public confidence, summarising the work he had undertaken as part of a thesis at the University of Cambridge. Detective Sergeant David Hollies introduced a variety of operational considerations relating to confidence. DCI Harding offered a comparative perspective discussing issues relating to both the policy context and the front line, as well as WWM's approach to measuring confidence.

Academic faculty from COPR - across Law, Psychology, Warwick Business School, and the Warwick Manufacturing Group contributed in the course of two, 2-hour roundtable discussions and raised a number of issues relating to measurement and the theorisation of confidence.
