The summer months brought the season of conferences to the project, and we had an interesting time engaging with our academic colleagues at the Academy of Management conference in Boston in early August, and discussing our project and emerging findings. Unfortunately, though Davide had planned to re-enter the field with our seventh and final chief executive in the sample during the summer, the CEO’s vacation plans and other commitments meant that the stay was postponed until September. As a consequence, we made the decision that we realistically needed to secure a three-month extension to the project to be able to complete a comprehensive analysis of all seven cases, which we are currently preparing.
