The Operational Research & Management Sciences (ORMS) Group focuses on the practical application of OR, the practice of OR and OR strategy but also extends the theoretical basis of model and methodology development. Much of the research looks at how OR methods can be used to improve real world problem situations and how OR can be performed more successfully within organisations such as the Health Service, the electricity industry and finance. The ORMS group ranges across the broad fields of operational research, systems and management sciences. He was Chairman of the School of Industrial and Business Studies (now Warwick Business School, WBS) 1978-81, Dean of WBS 1998-2000, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, University of Warwick 1989-95 and 1999-2005.
