The Warwick European Policy Network offers an open forum for academic staff, researchers and doctoral students with active interests in the European Union and its policies to meet and discuss communal interests. Drawn largely from departments in the Social Studies Faculty, it fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, pooling existing networks and contacts of European academics with whom its members have (or currently are) undertaking research. It operates through open seminars, including one series, Coping with Uncertainty: European labour markets and the politics of social reform, currently sponsored by the ESRC and run in collaboration with the University of Cambridge.

We offer potential research students a wide range of expert supervision from diverse academic disciplines across the social sciences, covering social policy reform in EU member states, the reshaping of employment practices in Europe and the consequent reconfiguration of industrial relations and welfare support in the EU. Thanks to its members’ involvement in past and present research programmes run by the European Commission under Frameworks 4 to 7, WEPN exemplifies Warwick’s reputation as a major source of research expertise on EU affairs in the UK.
