    Higher Degrees Frequently Asked Questions

    What entry qualifications do I need?

    Candidates are normally expected to hold a good honours degree and have appropriate teaching experience, but applications from those with professional experience relevant to graduate study in their main field of interest are also welcome. Candidates who have recently completed an undergraduate degree in a relevant field and who wish to move directly into the MA will also be considered.

    Can I seek accreditation for prior learning?

    Yes, accreditation for prior learning is possible. For more information please see our Accreditation of Prior Learning - APL webpage. Students who have received M level research training at another university may apply for exemption from Foundation Research Methods. Cases will be considered by the Director of Research Degrees on an individual basis.

    How long is the course?

    The course is available for one year full-time. Part-time study normally takes two to five years.

    How will I be assessed?

    Students are assessed by means of written assignments of 5000 words in each module and the dissertation/project of 20,000 words.
