    Personal Statement

    What makes a good personal statement?

    • Grammatically correct.
    • No spelling or typing errors.
    • Evidence of experience in school
    • Why teaching? Good reasons for this choice of career.
    • Why you?
    • What will you bring to the course?
    • Enthusiasm
    • Relevant knowledge and skills
    • Have you demonstrated that you are unique?
    • Are you education oriented?
    • Have you provided good examples from your school experience?
    • Strong reference

    What makes a bad personal statement?

    • The opposite of those items listed above
    • No mention of children or education.
    • Using clichés e.g. 'I've always wanted to be a teacher,'
    • Statements not backed up by good examples from school experience.
