Parental belief and parental engagement
As part of a University of Warwick funded research project we are investigating the links (if any) between parents' religious or spiritual beliefs and their engagement in children's learning. The literature makes it clear that parental and family religious beliefs and practices have a clear effect on children's educational outcomes. We also know that parental engagement with children's learning is a powerful lever for their achievement. However, little is known about how the two - parental belief and parental engagement - interact. We are conducting a survey and interviews to try to understand this interaction.
The data collection phase of this project is now finished.
We will be presenting our findings from the research at the Second World Conference on Learning, Teaching and Administration, in Istanbul, at the end of October. We will also report selected findings here.
