Donations support student research projects
Donations from alumni and friends have recently supported the Undergraduate Research Scholarship Scheme. This provides bursaries of up to £1000 to allow undergraduate students to undertake a short research project within a department or research centre.
The Scheme is seen as an innovation in UK HIgher Education and aims to encourage undergraduate students to:
- Gain an understanding of academic research
- Contribute to the development of new knowledge
- Develop skills for future study & employment
During the 2010-11 academic year 113 students participated in the scheme and 93 projects were funded. A wide range of research projects were undertaken across all faculties on a diverse range of topics, from regulation of fatty acid metabolism in diabetes and cancer, to the history of non-violent resistance in India.
A Poster Exhibition & Awards Ceremony was held in November to celebrate the culmination of the 2011 Scheme and recognise the achievements of the participants. Thank you to our Warwick Benefactors for your continued generosity and support for talented Warwick students!
