    Maximising our strengths in life and social sciences to improve nutrition and reduce hunger in the UK and in the developing world

    Warwick is at the forefront of research and learning in the areas of Science and the Environment. We are currently working on a wide range of research, which is highlighted in more detail on the Knowledge Centre. For example:

    Food for the Future

    Food sustainability and security is a hot topic in the news at the moment, with both famine and GM products being high on the news agenda. The Genetics Resource Unit, part of Warwick Crop Centre in the School of Life Sciences, is a seed bank holding many important species of crop.

    The Impending Global Food Crisis

    The years 2007 and 2008 were a disaster for the global food market, with spiralling prices pushing 200 million people worldwide into hunger. With food demand set to outstrip global supply later this century, how can governments ensure that we all have enough to eat? This is the challenging question that Dr David Hall-Matthews posed at a recent Institute for Advanced Study conference entitled The Problem of Power.
