New Online Student Assignment Management System

IT Services have released a new online feedback system to help departments give students feedback on their assignments.

The first release of the Assignment Management system is ready for departments and is already being used. It provides a simple way to upload assignments and all feedback in any format. When the feedback and marks are published the students receive an email alert which provides a link to download their feedback and marks. You can also add this link to a module website.

When fully functional the service will have the following features:

  • Electronic Submission
  • Tracking Assignments through the marking process
  • Returning feedback and marks online. The system will alert students when marks and feedback are available and will create an online repository for the student and personal tutors to view past feedback.
  • Mark Upload – the system will return marks to SITS
  • Archive - The system will provide an archive of all student assignments throughout their entire course.
What benefits does it offer?

The new system will help departments and students in the following ways:

  • More students will read their feedback (this is supported up by data from ITS's pilot sessions).
  • All the feedback returned is archived, and can be viewed any time.
  • Personal tutors and teachers will be able to review the feedback for a whole module or an individual student.
  • The feedback is available 24/7
  • ITS will support any department using the new system.
  • The system will automatically be populated with the modules running for the current year.

Professor Roger Leng said:

"The system proved very easy for academics to use, and it has proved to be exceptionally effective… By 4pm, 122 students had retrieved their feedback. This indicates 97% delivery within one working day."
