CASE Volunteer of the Year Award for Patrick Dunne
At the CASE Europe conference last week, Warwick alumnus, benefactor and Council member Patrick Dunne was awarded the prestigious 'Volunteer of the Year' award, in recognition of his achievements to support the 'Warwick in Africa' initiative, which he founded in 2006.
Patrick graduated from Warwick in 1980 and has dedicated his career to proactively encouraging a culture of philanthropy. He is currently the Chairman of UK charity Leap Confronting Conflict, is a Visiting Professor of Cranfield University, and serves on a wide range of advisory boards and councils.
The CASE Europe Advancement 'Volunteer of the Year' Award recognises volunteer leadership supporting advancement in an institution, and celebrates the individual for their efforts in promoting and supporting advancement in their institutions and the wider community.

Patrick graduated from Warwick in 1980 with a degree in Maths & Statistics. He said:
Maths and English are fantastic liberators from poverty and to see the twinkle in a township child’s eye when they see the possibility of a better life and have the confidence to go for it is inspiring. Warwick in Africa is incredible bangs per buck and with more support we have a realistic chance of having helped over 200,000 children by the time we are ten in 2015."
Mary McGrath, Director of Fundraising at Warwick, who nominated Patrick for the award said:
It's been my privilege to work with Patrick over the past 15 years. He is an exceptional, high energy volunteer and helped to found, develop and promote this philanthropically funded programme. Alongside his tireless support of Warwick in Africa, Patrick has spent six very proactive years as a member of the University Council, working at the highest strategic level for Warwick."
