The latest Campus Catch-Up took place on Friday 6 November in the Atrium of the Digital Laboratory. Staff came from all over campus to chat to each other over coffee and biscuits.
Although the campus catch-ups are usually informal occasions, giving staff the opportunity to take a break and chat over a cup of coffee with colleagues they don’t often see, the Registrar did make a short address at the catch-up to give an update on current activities within the University and issues in the wider HE sector.
Summary of Registrar's Talk
The Registrar discussed the re-casting of the University Strategy to focus on the driving principles underpinning the vision to be a top 50 institution, and reflected on the continued challenges facing the University of further reductions in government funding and uncertainty in commercial income streams and the impact of the government’s recently published Higher Ambitions HE Framework document.
He noted how the ‘Warwick way’, and the positive attitude of colleagues within the University was both valued by senior staff and essential in helping the University to continue to strive towards its strategic goals in these circumstances.
He gave an overview of key achievements over recent months such as the implementation of PBS, progress in international collaborations and increases in research and development income and reminded staff of the next open meeting due to take place on 26 January and the Warwick Network event on 12 April.
There will be Campus Catch-Ups on Thursday 25 March, and Tuesday 25 May next year.
