International Funding Opportunities: Proposals Call

Global Innovation Initiative (GII) for collaborations with the US, Brazil, India, China and Indonesia.

The second Call for Proposals for the Global Innovation Initiative (GII) was launched on Monday 18 August 2014. The GII is a shared commitment of the UK and the US to strengthen research collaboration between universities in the UK, US, and selected emerging economies.

UK and US universities are invited to apply for funding to support STEM-related multilateral research partnerships with Brazil, China, India and Indonesia.

GII grants (ranging from £100,000 to £150,000) are awarded to university consortia dedicated to fostering international partnerships and addressing issues of global significance.

Funded by the British Council, the US Department of State and the UK's Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, additional information is available online.

UKIERI Call for Bids 2014-15: Strand 2: Innovation Partnerships

The UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) is now accepting proposals for the following strand 2 (Innovation Partnerships) activities. Guidelines and application forms are available on the UKIERI website.

1. DST-UKIERI Thematic Partnerships 2014

To support research and knowledge transfer partnerships in specific subject areas. The areas include:

  1. Climate Change
  2. Computer Science
  3. Public Health and Well being
  4. Food Water Energy
  5. Sustainable cities
  6. Big Data
  7. High Value manufacturing

Value: DST-UKIERI funds are available for partnerships of up to 15 Months in duration and will provide for a maximum of £40,000.

2. UGC-UKIERI Thematic Partnerships

This sub-strand will strengthen engagement and encourage future potential collaborations between Indian and UK higher education institutions by facilitating collaborations and promoting innovation along with promoting and assisting registered PhD students and post-docs in India and the UK to undertake short-term visits to work on research projects. Value: UGC-UKIERI Thematic Partnerships are available for partnerships of up to 15 Months in duration and will provide for a maximum of £40,000.
