Warwick team raise thousands for premature babies

Congratulations to the team of fundraisers from Warwick who have run up almost £8,000 in donations for The Grace Research Fund!

runners_-_group_photo_2.jpgStaff and students have participated in a variety of running events this year in order to raise money for the charity which funds medical research into the causes of premature births and the best forms of neonatal care. The fund was set up by Coventry residents Tracy and Simon Hayes in memory of their daughter Grace, who was born 14 weeks early at Walsgrave Hospital.

People of varying running experience united to form a team of 43 fundraisers which was motivationally titled ‘Team Grace’. The team members have already completed events including the Coventry Half Marathon and the Two Castles Run.

Member of the team Charlotte Maytum praised the runners for their efforts, she said:

A huge congratulations to the 43 members who ran for Grace in the Two Castles 10k run on such a hot day. It was amazing to see all the orange Grace T Shirts popping up throughout the run.”

An online fundraising page was established on the popular charity platform ‘Just Giving’. Currently, the amount of money raised is just shy of the £8000 target with over 450 individual donations to date.

The team will continue to compete in events annually to raise funds for The Grace Research Fund and other charities. Donations can be made online.
