Warwick Students targeted by top graduate employers

gradWarwick students have just been declared as the 3rd most-often targeted by Britain’s top graduate employers in the annual ranking published by High Fliers Research.

For the last twenty years High Fliers Research has conducted detailed research into the graduate recruitment market in the UK, providing the country’s leading employers with an insight into the attitudes and aspirations of final year university students. The most recent High fliers report declares that the five universities most-often targeted by Britain’s top graduate employers in 2014- 2015 are: Manchester, Nottingham, Warwick, Cambridge, and Oxford.

What this means for students...

This is good news for Warwick students with:

  • Graduate starting salaries at the UK’s leading graduate employers are expected to increase for the second year running in 2015, reaching a median of £30,000 for the first time.
  • The UK’s leading employers plan to expand their graduate recruitment even further in 2015 with 8.1% more entry-level vacancies than last year, the third consecutive year that graduate vacancies have increased.
  • Over four-fifths of the UK’s leading graduate employers are offering paid work experience programmes for students and recent graduates during the 2014-2015 academic year – an unprecedented 13,049 places are available

The study has also highlighted the importance of work experience whilst at University in getting a job after graduating.

Student Careers & skills opportunities

Student Careers & Skills works with 98 of the Top 100 graduate recruiters listed in High Flyers. The majority of these have posted vacancies through the myAdvantage jobs portal. We currently have 455 graduate vacancies listed, including many with these firms. Last year 1,150 opportunities were advertised on myAdvantage by the Top 100 Recruiters. Students keen to work for these firms have opportunities to meet the majority of the Top 100 recruiters face to face on campus through the many Careers Fairs, Employer presentations and skills sessions we organise through the year.

In addition to providing multiple opportunities to meet with a range of graduate recruiters, Student Careers & Skills offers CV and applications support, mock interview practice and preparation for Assessment Centres to ensure students are as well prepared as they can be when applying for graduate jobs.

The next Jobs and Work Experience Fair is on Thursday 26 February where participating recruiters, who still have vacancies for graduating finalists and work experience placements available, will be in attendance and keen to meet Warwick students.

Warwick’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Nigel Thrift said:

This is a testament to the high calibre of Warwick’s students and how they take full advantage of the experiences Warwick offers them as a University. Warwick is a globally connected university and our students graduate with an acute global awareness and an ability to thrive in a range of countries and cultures. It is no surprise that they are highly sought after by many globally focused leading graduate employers”
