Parking restrictions and increased traffic during Graduation

This year's summer degree ceremonies are taking place from Monday 15 July to Saturday 20 July 2013.

During these days there will be an increase in traffic on and around campus. Owing to the timings of the ceremonies (11am and 3pm each day), the peak time for this increased traffic is anticipated to be during the morning and evening rush hours. Where possible, please ensure that you plan your journey accordingly.

Saturday 20 July

Degree graduands will be parking on central campus on Saturday 20 July, there will be no Park and Ride. It will also be Teach First arrival day, so very busy on campus.

Parking restrictions

  • The ground floor of car park 7 will be for disabled use only
  • The lower ground floor of car park 7 will be for use by VIPs only

The rest of car park 7 will be open as usual to staff. Please bear in mind that owing to the increased traffic on campus, car parks are likely to fill up much earlier than usual, particularly car parks 7, 8 and 15.

Park and Ride

The University will operate a park and ride scheme from Stoneleigh Park in a similar manner to last year's summer graduation. This should help ease congestion and free up parking on campus. All visitors to campus for the upcoming ceremonies have been informed of the scheme.
Traffic officers will be present on campus to assist with directing the extra traffic to car parks throughout the week.
