Indian Police learn from campus partnership

Indian Police Officers with Sergeant Paul Mercer from Coventry Police

Indian Police Officers recently visited Warwick to learn more about partnership working between Coventry Police and the University.

Eight senior officers met with Head of Security Services Mark Kennell and Campus Police Officer Mick Parkes to hear more about the police work on campus.

The visit was part of an ongoing relationship between the police forces in the West Midlands and India, designed to improve understanding and confidence between local police and Indian communities.

In Coventry the visitors also received an insight into custody procedure in the cell block and learned more about offender management. Other members of the Indian party visited police in Birmingham and Solihull. The officers will also spend time with the Institute of Criminology at the University of Cambridge during their two-week stay.

Two of the officers are pictured here with Sergeant Paul Mercer, who is responsible for policing the area.
