The University has been saddened to learn of the death of Krysia Saul. Krysia retired from Warwick Medical School following the death of her husband from a prolonged illness, and moved to Deal in Kent with plans to undertake a PhD as well as numerous other activities within the local community.

Krysia was the research manager for Warwick and Coventry Primary Care Research between 2000 and 2011. During this time she not only managed the financial and operational aspects of the research network, but became particularly involved in advising research students and primary care researchers on NHS governance and ethical requirements. She was always eager to develop and challenge herself, and over time became actively involved in research as a co-investigator on research related to disfigurement. She co-authored a number of papers and book chapters about this topic, and published a personal piece in the British Medical Journal on her experience of living with facial disfigurement.

Professor Jeremy Dale, WMS, said,

It is very sad that Krysia’s retirement has been cut short by illness so soon after retiring from Warwick. We remember Krysia as a kind, caring, resourceful and resilient friend and colleague who for over a decade was a very strong advocate for primary care research in Coventry and Warwickshire, always keen to help staff and students develop their research ideas, and later becoming a researcher herself.

Her funeral will be held locally at Barham Crematorium (near Canterbury). Once we have further information regarding dates and arrangements for flowers, we will update this page.
