Associate Professor Christian Stadler has been shortlisted for the prestigious Thinkers50 awards – regarded as the Oscars of management thinking.

The Warwick Business School Associate Professor of Strategic Management has been nominated for the Future Thinker Award and will be up against some of the top business brains from across the globe.

The Future Thinker award will identify the new thinker who has emerged over the last two years with the potential to change the world of theory and practice.

The winner will be annouced alongside eight other awards including the Thinkers50 Winner Award, which goes to the person selected as the world’s foremost management thinker, at the Thinkers50 Distinguished Achievement Awards Gala on Monday 11 November 2013 in London. On the same night the biennal Thinkers50 list, which was headed by Harvard Business School’s Clayton Christensen in 2011, will also be announced.

Dr Stadler said:

The Thinkers50 includes some of the best brains from across the world who have a desire to improve and refine management and organisations. It is a celebration of the brightest minds in the world of business and finance and it will be a great occasion to meet and rub shoulders with these very influential thinkers."

Dr Stadler has spent the past decade researching how long-living corporations have beaten off the competition to survive for so long. His investigations into the history and practices of global giants like Royal Dutch Shell, Nokia, GlaxoSmithKline and Siemens has been distilled into his management book Enduring Success: What we can learn from the history of outstanding corporations (Stanford University Press, 2011).

Working on Enduring Success was hugely challenging and fascinating,” said Dr Stadler. “It has given me a great insight into how long-term success is achieved and I am pleased it has been so well received."

Des Dearlove, who along with Stuart Crainer created the Thinkers50 in 2001 which has now become widely regarded as the world’s definitive ranking of the leading business thinkers, said:
