Statute 24 reform: Update May 2017

A message from Provost Christine Ennew updating on reform of Statute 24 and its related Ordinances

9 May 2017

Dear colleagues

Further to my communication on 11 April 2017 regarding the reform of Statute 24, I committed to publishing a revised draft of Statute 24 for further consultation with the wider staff community, which is available on the Statute 24 page.

Ongoing consultation has resulted in feedback which has led to us proposing a number of amendments to the draft documents originally published, some of which have been incorporated into the revised draft.

We are also intending to further amend Statute so that it incorporates an additional step regarding an early review relating to Academic Freedom. More details regarding this will be made available after further consultation with the Trades Unions.

Our next all-staff meeting, scheduled to take place on Wednesday 10 May, will be used to discuss proposed changes to Statute 24, alongside updates on key University developments and activities. See further details on the Executive Office web pages. I would encourage you to come to this meeting if at all possible to discuss the proposed reforms in more detail.

Once again, we would like to encourage staff to continue to feedback their thoughts and comments regarding the amended proposals, either via their Trade Union or directly to our Employee Relations team via emprelations at warwick dot ac dot uk.

Best wishes,
Christine Ennew, Provost
