Student Barometer 2014

sbAll students are asked to participate in the Student Barometer summer wave 2014, a global survey of student experience run by the independent research organisation, i-graduate, which launches today (Monday 28 April).

The survey takes just 10 minutes to complete, giving you the opportunity to have your say and be in with a chance of winning a £1,000 cash prize or one of five £100 Amazon vouchers in a free prize draw.

You will receive an email to your Warwick email account from the Vice-Chancellor inviting you to take part.

The deadline for completing the survey is Friday 27 June 2014. Your response will shape the student experience at Warwick for years to come by helping the University to:

  • Understand your needs better
  • Tailor what is delivered to meet your needs
  • Evaluate any changes that have been made to check that student needs have been met

Feedback from previous survey

Back in the autumn term, over 3000 Warwick students responded, reflecting on their satisfaction with aspects of Learning, Living, Support and Arrival.

Some great news came out of the survey with 91.2% of all students surveyed stating that they are either satisfied or very satisfied with their overall experience at Warwick. Expert Lectures (96.7%), Faith Provision (96.7%), the Graduate School (95.6%) and the Students’ Union’s Societies and Sports Clubs (95.6%) all received exceptionally high satisfaction ratings.

In response to previous survey findings, which showed students were more dissatisfied with University-run eating places than students across the UK, Warwick Retail has made some significant changes to its food, drink and retail offering over the past 12 months including:

  • Extended opening hours of all outlets on campus, with most opening at 8am
  • Farmers market - now a regular event on the University’s calendar, featuring a vibrant mix of street food stalls selling high quality, local, fresh produce
  • The arrival of a vintage Citroen ‘H’ van serving artisan coffee and a weekly changing menu
  • A new “pop-up” outlet on the Piazza to support big screen events. Selling premium homemade burgers
  • Extra space created in Westwood and Rootes, with hot water and microwaves installed enabling students to heat up their own food
  • Refurbishments to Café Humanities, Café Social and the atrium coffee bar at University House. All installed with new state of the art coffee machines and selling hand crafted coffees, premium cakes and pastries and artisan rolls.

The University is also working hard to improve the arrivals period for postgraduate taught students, nearly a third of whom have said they were either dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with their arrival experience or ‘Welcome’ in autumn 2013. The Graduate School, PG Hub, Induction Team (SCS) and International Office are working collaboratively with colleagues across campus to improve the experience for all.

Lucky winners

Five lucky Warwick students who took part in the autumn 2013 survey were selected at random by i-graduate and have each received a £100 Amazon voucher.
